Shawanda Renee Obey, MD, is a physician, health care leader, and women’s health advocate whose work spans obstetrics, gynecology, wellness, and community health. Shawanda Renee Obey, MD is the president and CEO of Summit Women’s and Wellness Medical Group, Inc. in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where she provides comprehensive OB/GYN care alongside services in complex family planning, sexual health, weight management, nutrition, aesthetics, and functional and integrative medicine.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Obey served as site director for OB Hospitalist Group at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. As an OB hospitalist and lead hospitalist, she managed acute obstetrical emergencies. She worked with physicians, nurses, hospitalists, and community providers to support coordinated, high-quality care for women and their newborns.
Dr. Obey’s professional interests focus on addressing disparities in women’s health care. She has particular interest in pregnancy-related health outcomes, breast and cervical cancer screening and prevention, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, diabetes, obstetrical hemorrhage, obesity, and other conditions affecting women throughout their lives. Her interests also include menopause, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, and physician burnout.
Dr. Obey is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of various professional and community organizations. She is also completing a master of public health, focusing on health disparities and community health.
